The Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program is an Australian Government initiative that provides financial assistance to support students’ on-site learning about national democratic, historical and cultural institutions in Canberra, the nation’s capital. NEW Eligibility Guidelines are in place as a result of Covid-19
The PACER Program provides some financial assistance for students in Years 4-12 across Australia to travel to Canberra.
PACER provides opportunities for students who learn about civics and citizenship in the classroom see their knowledge brought to life whey experience Canberra first hand.
To qualify for PACER, a school excursion is required to visit three of the four mandatory national institutions.
‣ Parliament House (including taking a guided educational tour, and wherever possible, participating in a Parliamentary Education Office Program and meeting their local Member/Senator);
‣ Australian War Memorial (including booking an education program or self-guided tour);
‣ Museum of Australian Democracy (including booking into an education program offered);
‣ National Electoral Education Centre (including booking into an education program offered).
School’s also have the opportunity to visit a number of other sites of cultural and historical interest while in Canberra.
