2016 marks the 40th anniversary of the formation of the Australian War Memorial Voluntary Guides and the delivery of the first guided tour at the Memorial. In 2015 the volunteer guides delivered 8,826 tours to more than 60,000 people.
The Australian War Memorial Voluntary Guides received the 2016 Education, Science and Technology Team Award, and the 2016 ACT Volunteer of the Year Awards.
The Volunteer Guides are dedicated to providing a proficient and professional service for all Memorial visitors. Each guide will undertake 12 months extensive training by Memorial curators, historians, and educators.
